Users sharing events and content from VHM’s EventBox drives more traffic to client’s sites, builds base of unique visitors

KNOXVILLE, TN – Voices Heard Media released new data results demonstrating that its suite of social engagement applications (the EventBox) has increased unique visitors to clients’ sites by as much as 49 percent. The increased traffic was the result of social sharing of events, such as contests, polls and Q&As, to social media sites by participating users. In sharing the events, the participating users lured their friends from Facebook, Twitter, social bookmarks and other social sites to client sites to participate in the events.

 “Our clients are successfully running consecutive events on the EventBox to re-build their base of unique visitors which they had lost to social media over the last few years,” said CEO Will Overstreet. “This data proves that clients can lure traffic from social media to their sites, where they can engage users on their own turf and monetize the interaction with ad impressions or other sales.”

Interestingly, share rates did not have to be high in order to attract large numbers of unique visitors. However, certain events gained more attention based on the type of event. For instance, if an event required that the user obtain the most votes to win, the user was incentivized to share the EventBox so their friends would vote for them – drawing more traffic to the site. As a contrast example, contest events that selected a winner at random did not encourage users to share – and may have discouraged them from sharing.

Over the last two weeks, Voices Heard Media has also examined other ways social networking impacts the number of unique visitors that come to a client’s site including:

·        The amount of times an event was shared

·        How it was shared (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, social bookmarking)

and

·        Target share rates for site content – i.e. how web content developers can judge the value of their content by its share rate.
