The Huffington Post incorporates VHM's EventBox into content

KNOXVILLE, TN – Voices Heard Media announced that its EventBox social tool will now be featured on The Huffington Post’s Entertainment section, marking an expansion of the social tool’s usage across various AOL properties, including AOL Moviefone and PopEater.

AOL originally used the EventBox for customized contests and giveaways around such launches as “Glee”, “Twilight” and “American Idol.” The biggest traffic came from JSYK’s Tell Us event ,“What’s On Your 2010 Wish List,” in time for Black Friday. The interactive feature drew nearly 140,000 visitors posting what they wanted for Christmas and commenting and voting on other users’ ideas. Approximately 30 percent of the comments were correlated, meaning similar comments were categorized and prioritized by the EventBox’s technology to significantly reduce the staff’s workload.

One TV Squad contest gave away “American Idol” tickets, a project that engaged nearly 19,000 unique visitors with 45,000 page views for the contest alone. Many visitors posted the event to friends in social media networks, including 89 posts to Facebook, luring additional visitors to the site.

Moviefone used the EventBox as a real-time focus group to determine what visitors wanted to see. Among its most successful social events was a contest inviting visitors to submit a video (or embed a YouTube video) demonstrating how they were the best Harry Potter fan. The wildly popular contest resulted in 30,000 unique visitors on the page in 7 days, 50,000 page views, 18,000 interactions (votes, comments and submissions), 300 ‘shares’ on external social media sites (200 via Facebook), and 37 video submissions. The leading video had 1.3 million YouTube views within 10 days. Moviefone was mentioned on every showing, and the hilarious event was featured on URLesque and Perez Hilton, among other sites and bloggers.

More recently, PopEater launched a Glee Tour VIP Giveaway in two cities.  However, Huffington Post plans on executing an extended series of contests targeting different locations throughout the summer which lead to a momentous event at the end.

“We are honored The Huffington Post sees the value of our work with AOL’s social engagement strategy and are giving us the opportunity to expand our tools to all of the entertainment properties,”said Will Overstreet, founder and CEO of Voices Heard Media. “It’s exciting to help create new opportunities that engage users and create brand fanatics.”

“We’ve found that EventBox is an easy, eye-catching and fun way for us to engage our user, and we’re pleased to now be offering it on HuffPost Entertainment,” said Rae Votta, Entertainment Social News Editor for Huffington Post Media Group at AOL, who now oversees these sites.
